Important Notes About the Clock Tower’s Indoor Environment
The Sapporo Clock Tower is a designated Important Cultural Property built during the Meiji era. The interior is preserved as much as possible in its original condition, which may lead to some considerations for visitors:
While fans and air circulators are available, there is no air conditioning. During the summer months (July–September), the indoor temperature may exceed 30°C on particularly hot days.
While eating and drinking are generally prohibited inside, hydration is allowed. A vending machine is available on the second floor.
Heating is provided in winter, but the temperature may not be completely comfortable. Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly during the winter months (December–March).
As there is no soundproofing, external noises such as sirens, car horns, or the hourly chimes of the clock may be audible inside.
Restrooms are located in a separate building (on the east side of the first floor, accessible via a short outdoor walkway).
Other Information
There are no coin lockers available, but large luggage can be left in front of the office on the first floor.
As noted, eating and drinking are not allowed inside, except for hydration purposes.
