Sapporo Underground Shopping Mall – Convenient Shopping Beneath the City

The Sapporo Underground Shopping Mall is a network of connected shopping arcades beneath the city center, linking key areas such as Odori Station, Susukino Station, and the Sapporo TV Tower area. Open year-round, it offers a warm, weather-proof way to explore the city, making it especially popular during Sapporo’s snowy winters.

The mall is divided into two main areas:
- Pole Town – Runs between Susukino and Odori, lined with fashion boutiques, shoe stores, cosmetics shops, and cafés.
- Aurora Town – Extends east from Odori Station toward the Sapporo TV Tower, featuring souvenir stores, bookstores, lifestyle goods, and restaurants serving Hokkaido specialties.

Visitors can browse everything from trendy clothing and accessories to local sweets and crafts, making it a great spot to shop for both everyday items and gifts. Since the underground streets connect directly to department stores like Daimaru, Sapporo Tokyu, and Sapporo Stellar Place, you can easily continue your shopping above ground.

💡 Tip: If you visit in winter, the underground walkways are the most comfortable way to get around central Sapporo while avoiding icy sidewalks.
